Oil Painting Process Post #1

Since starting this project I have finished creating my composition, I have sketched out where my items will be painted on my canvas, and I have started blocking in the black and white paints. This makes me at about the same place as everyone else in this class. When we continue working on our paintings I will continue adding in black and white paints in thin washes, and then I will add more detailed black and white to bring out the different elements of my still life. One thing that was surprisingly difficult in this project was creating the composition. I expected this process to be fairly easy because it is just organizing things, but I was wrong. I ended up spending over an entire class working on my composition, and even still I wasn't sure about my composition in the end. I have really enjoyed the painting so far because I like how you can easily fix mistakes with the paint, and painting is just fun for me in general.
