The career I am looking into is a glassblower. Some responsibilities of a glassblower is preparation of materials, designing the product with clients or alone, safely handling the hot materials, and making the glass pieces. To become a glassblower, most employers require a high school diploma. Helpful college degrees include any art degree, which indicates art skills and general ability. Some colleges providing glass specific degrees are Salem Community College in New Jersey and Alfred University in New York. However, because of the nature of glass blowing, experience is usually much more important than schooling or degrees. You can receive this experience is by helping out at glassblowing studios, taking classes in glassblowing, and apprenticing with glassblowers. An average salary for a glassblower is around $34,000, so not very much.
